What It Searches
News, AWI Quarterly, Policy Efforts, Programs, Resources, Education, Funding Opportunities, Jobs, Staff, What You Can Do, and Pages.
Filters
- — Filter by Program—narrow results to one or more program areas
- — Filter by Content Type—limit results to specific content types, such as News or Resources
- — Search PDF Documents—a separate "Include PDFs in search results" checkbox. PDFs are not included by default.
Why some older PDFs don't show up
When "Include PDFs in search results" is checked, the search engine matches against two things: the PDF's Title (set in the Media Library) and any text it can extract from inside the file. Many older documents are scanned images with no OCR'd text—there's nothing inside them to extract, so they can only be found by their Title. This is one more reason a clear, descriptive PDF title matters. See Classifying PDFs.
